Editorial Policy
The credibility of EVsBuzz.com depends on what we publish, how we publish it and who we listen to. This Editorial Policy describes our standards, the wall between editorial and commercial, our use of sources, our handling of opinion vs news, and our commitments to fairness, balance and independence. It applies to every article published on https://evsbuzz.com by full-time staff, contributors, freelancers and guest writers.
1. Mission
EVsBuzz.com exists to inform readers about cars, EVs, charging, mobility, road-transport policy and the wider transport-energy transition with accuracy, independence and useful context — so readers can make better buying, charging, ownership and policy decisions.
2. Independence
- Editorial decisions are taken independently of advertisers, sponsors, partners and affiliate sources.
- No advertiser is shown an unpublished editorial article in advance.
- No advertiser receives veto rights, headline approval or quote approval.
- Negative or critical coverage of an advertiser is permissible and routine; we do not pull stories to protect ad revenue.
3. Separation of editorial and commercial content
EVsBuzz.com publishes three distinct categories of content:
- Editorial — news, reviews, guides and opinion produced by our newsroom. Editorial bears no advertiser label.
- Sponsored / Partner content — paid placements produced by or for an advertiser. Every such article carries a prominent label (“Sponsored”, “Partner Content” or “Promoted”) at the top, in the byline and in the URL where possible.
- Affiliate content — guides, lists or product round-ups that contain affiliate links. Affiliate relationships are disclosed at the top of the article and in the Disclaimer.
We do not accept “advertorial” that mimics the look and feel of editorial without a clear label.
4. Sources & verification
- Wherever practical we cite primary sources — manufacturer press releases, type-approval documents, SIAM/VAHAN data, government notifications, court orders, regulator press conferences, audited research.
- Single anonymous sources are used only where the public interest is high, the information cannot be reported in any other way, and the source has been vetted by a senior editor.
- We seek comment from the subject of any critical story before publication and reflect their response (or its absence) in the article.
- We do not publish unverified claims made on closed messaging groups, anonymous accounts or single-source social posts as fact.
5. News vs opinion vs first-drive
Every article is labelled by type: News, Feature, Review / First Drive, Long-term report, Opinion / Op-ed, Explainer or Buyer Guide. Opinion pieces represent the writer’s personal views and not those of EVsBuzz.com as a publication.
6. Headlines, images & thumbnails
- Headlines must summarise the article accurately. We do not publish click-bait headlines that overstate or contradict the body.
- Featured images and thumbnails must relate to the article. We do not use unrelated dramatic imagery to drive clicks.
- Manipulated or AI-generated imagery is labelled “Illustration”, “Render” or “AI-generated”, whichever applies.
7. Bylines & attribution
Single-author articles carry the author’s real name. Wire copy, news desk round-ups and aggregated lists carry the byline “EVsBuzz.com Newsroom” with contributing editors listed at the bottom. Ghost-writing for advertisers is permitted only in sponsored content, never in editorial.
8. Embargoes
EVsBuzz.com honours embargoes agreed with manufacturers, regulators and other sources. We do not break embargoes for traffic. If an embargo is breached publicly by another outlet, we may publish without breaching the spirit of the agreement.
9. Use of AI
Generative AI may be used for research support, drafting boilerplate, summarising long documents, translating and image illustration. AI-assisted articles are reviewed and edited by a human before publication and the final article is the responsibility of the named author. AI-generated illustration is labelled as such.
10. User-generated content
Reader comments and forum posts are moderated against our Terms of Use. We remove personal attacks, hate speech, doxxing, spam and content that violates our Ethics Policy. We do not edit comments to change the meaning of what a reader said.
11. Compliance with Google publisher policies
We operate in line with Google AdSense Programme Policies and Google Publisher Policies, including the prohibitions on dangerous or derogatory content, misleading content, sexually explicit content and content that infringes intellectual property. Articles that violate these policies are removed from monetisation immediately and may be retracted under our Corrections Policy.
12. Review & oversight
This policy is reviewed at least once a year by the editor responsible for EVsBuzz.com. Material changes are announced on the Site.
